Open Universal Telemetry Standard

Open Universal Telemetry Standard

We have been calling for an Open Universal Telemetry (OUT) standard for a while now.

Currently, each simulation software company has their own unique telemetry format or a way of communicating and sending telemetry that other software or hardware companies have to work to re-interpret or convert for their own use.

This is a huge and an unnecessary impediment to the industry over all. It slows down development of software and hardware peripherals in a very rich ecosystem of software and hardware components and peripherals.

With an OUT standard we can integrate new software or hardware features automatically and quickly. Each company would automatically know what to expect and can just 'open' a standard format of telemetry output.

No guess work required.

Games or software not utilizing the OUT standard will ultimately have less hardware supported and so they are incentivized to participate or provide an OUT telemetry stream to supporting 3rd party software and hardware. This is a win/win/win for both software developers, 3rd party software/hardware providers and ultimately the end customers.

The end goal is to have a more seamless integration of hardware and software and further accelerate and lower the costs of development.

The same rules of the road for all to follow.
