2020 | Waste Management Full Cab Simulator

Sigma was tasked with creating a special exhibit for Waste Managements’ new corporate head quarters in Houston, Texas. The simulator is situated on the 30th floor and features a real Peterbilt 520 cab with all functional controls, including the steering wheel, pedals, gauges, Eaton automatic shifter, functional joystick and all the hopper functions. The software used for this experience was custom built on the BeamNG software engine, with 3 main scenarios to choose from and a running leaderboard to keep score. The Peterbilt truck cab also includes a functional rear view camera, interior sound and transducers to translate the rumble of the engine to the driver. The simulation is then displayed on custom Samsung 12-foot screen for optimal immersion.

This unique experience did not have our DK motion system integrated, but instead Sigma made a custom transducer integration (vibrating haptic devices).

We used 4 Dayton Audio transducers, specifically mounted to the 'dog house' or the inside tunnel of the truck cab. The material and mounting method is very important for transducers and hence the location of these transducers and the custom amplifier that connects them made for a very unique auditory and tactile experience. It emulated the rumble of the diesel engine almost perfectly. Shaking the internal cab structure, controls and driver.
